Newbie on the Loose

Hey all!

I'm a native Floridian who prefers moonbeams to sunlight, magick over science, and traipsing through forests in lieu of highways because unicorns and leprechauns are more compelling than concrete and tail lights. A night owl by nature, an early riser by protest, I was forced to surrender my vampire card when the Consortium of Necrophiles exposed my garlic obsession.

In between tutoring fledgling dragons on the dangers of buzzing airport towers and moonlighting as a werewolf whisperer, I argue with our ancestral faery who gobbles all the cookies in the pantry, dole out treats and mad love to the precocious fur-babies—Monster Puppy and Brave Little Basset, and snuggle with the hubster, Professor Xavier, while watching American Idol and Fringe.

Pizza, rocky road ice cream, and Nickelback are the muses that fuel my soul. And M&M's, Doritoes, and sweet tea. Scones with strawberries and clotted cream. Scottish Highlanders, space captains, knights with dented armor, and things that go bump in the night.

People claim that I'm weirder than I look—an assertation I whole-heartedly endorse. Champion of the underdog, friend of the forgotten, seer of the invisible, I believe imagination is the elixir of life. Slurp it often, I do.

Welcome to the group, Kaelee. A hectic life with work and family can sometimes kill a promising writing career. I'm glad to hear you are making it work.

I can't wait to hear more about your writing, Kaelee. I also write paranormals, and some historical erotic romance that's pretty dark, so I'm very much looking forward to hearing about your journey.

Welcome to the group, and I look forward to getting to know you better along the way.

PS. I also have two little fur-babies. My DH doesn't particularly like that I call them that, but that's what not having kids has gotten me--my pets are my kids.

Welcome, Kaelee! My kids are forever rescuing animals. My girls-dogs and my boy-turtles. We're one of those families that pulls off the highway and dodges traffic. Fortunately for us out here in Kansas there isn't much. :)

One of my first ever attempted stories was an Arthurian contemp. And I'm not completely convinced that my ancestors aren't fae.;)

Glad you're here, Kaelee! I typically write romantic suspense/thrillers but my current WIP is a paranormal. I hope some of your future posts talk about this exciting genre.

Balancing family and writing can be a challenge at any age. My children are grown but my husband will always be a "toys r us" kid.

It looks like we have a few of the same quirks. My husband also wonders at my draw to the paranormal, but throw in a normal human victim, and I'm a nervous wreck. Loved your post and look forward to more.

Hey, Kaelee, great post. I'm excited to see more about the magicks of your world. This is going to be a very fun experience!

Great to meet you.

Hi Kaelee. I'm interested in learning more about paranormal...so I'm looking forward to reading more posts from you. And tips on juggling a busy life without losing the writing time.

I'm so excited about meeting all the New Kids and following everyone's journey to publication.

Camryn...I've conditioned my parents to refer to my fur-babies as their grand-dogs. (grin)
Renee...It's entirely possible that you have fae ancestry if any of your predecessors were from Ireland. I'd love to see your contemporary Arthurian tale.
Deb...I read a recent article in LHJ that men never outgrow being kids.
Alanarose...Quirky people make every day more interesting. At least that's what I tell myself. (grin)
Rebecca...thanks so much for including me.
Julie and Lynn...I hope to do a future post on time management, the crazy life way.

I think that's a great idea, Kaelee. I'm gonna have to try that.
