My friend is building a webpage to launch her various writing projects. She’s found some amazing graphics, one featuring a little fairy with written words trailing down her skirt. A writer fairy. It’s unique, whimsical and perfect artwork for her site.
I was jealous at first until I realized the only way it would fit on my site is if the fairy had a gun instead of a wand, or had horns and a forked tail. That wouldn’t make her very whimsical, would it? Sigh.
Since I was green with envy, although very happy for my friend, I decided to come up with my own brand of writer fairy. I write Paranormal Suspense and Sexy Paranormal, neither of which incorporates fairies. Strike out on Plan A.
Moving on to Plan B. What does a writer fairy do, anyway? I decided it serves as a consultant. A muse, if you will. Someone who offers critiques as well as inspiration.

And then I had an epiphany. I realized I’d been blessed beyond my wildest dreams. I have not one . . . but TWO writer fairies. Oh, sweet bliss! How could I not see this before?

Johnny and Jack are constantly at my side, reviewing my work, offering suggestions. Even deleting entire passages when they think its not up to my usual standards. I must say, I react rather badly when that happens but they seem to take no offense, coming right back as if nothing had happened.

Sometimes they disagree on the direction of my story. I prefer to think of it as creative differences but they always make up in the end. They’re certainly insistent about their views. I’ve even had them get in my face on occasion but I know it’s only because of their passion for writing.
At times, I wish they would adopt a more r
elaxed attitude. I do worry about the stress and anxiety my writing has created in their lives. So I brought in a lifestyle coach to help them achieve a more tranquil state. I’m not sure it’s had much effect but there’s always hope!
Until then, BICHOK - Deb Sanders
Or as Jack and Johnny are learning to say, NAMASTE.
