Random thoughts

I have two problems in my writing life.  Well, probably quite a few more than two, but these are the ones I am thinking about today.  One is the age-old issue of making time to write--since boot camp ended and no one is threatening to kick my ass, I have been slacking in that department.  I am not truly stalled, but life is getting in the way, and I need to tell it to back off.

The other problem is that I am scheduled to blog today but I am not ready to post what I had planned.  So today I am purloining an idea from my kinswoman Mindy McGinnis (who is awesome, by the way--check out her blog), and posting a few random thoughts instead.

1.  25 years ago, when I was younger, skinnier, and (if my mother is to be believed) much more obnoxious, I spent my junior year in college at Durham University in Northern England, which has since come to be the setting for all the books I haven't finished.  But I digress.  While I was there, I repeatedly heard the phrase, "safe as houses," and ever since I have wondered what the heck it meant.  I have found a number of definitions on the internet, but I remain unenlightened to the meaning and the origin of the phrase.

2.  No, I have not finished my book, but the end is in sight.  Really.

3.  Why, as I lose the hair on my head, is hair sprouting from my chin?  There is something fundamentally unfair about this.

I have more, but I am too sleepy to think of them just now.

Until next time,

Marin
